Hyaluronic fillers are natural substances, which are applied at different depths into the skin in order to compensate for the volume and increase the skin tone and elasticity. It is most often used to compensate for the volume of the lips, nasolabial folds and cheekbones. Different types of hyaluronic fillers are used, depending on the region in which the filler is applied.
The procedure is performed in an outpatient setting. A local anesthetic is applied in the form of a cream and 2 to 3 days after the application of the filler, a swelling may occur in the area where the filler was injected. The duration of the effect of the applied fillers can be from 6 months to 2 years, which depends on the individual characteristics of the patient and the type of filler that has been applied.
