Gynecomastia – male breast surgery

Gynecomastia is a benign enlargement of the glandular and fatty tissue of the breast in men. The change can be unilateral or bilateral, and is caused by hormonal imbalance, use of certain medications, consumption of marijuana, etc. In some cases, it is not possible to determine the exact cause of gynecomastia.

The operation is performed under general anesthesia. It lasts from 1 to 1.5 hours, and through a small incision around the areola, the excess glandular and fatty tissue is removed. In certain cases, it is necessary to reduce excess skin, which means applying a different technique, in which the scar remains around the entire areola. The patient is usually discharged 24 hours after the surgery.
