Plastic surgery

Plastic surgery is a field of medicine that deals with the removal of deformities, correction of functional defects, reconstruction or change of human body parts, and its roots go back to ancient times. The etymology of the name is from the Greek word ’plastikos’, which means ’to remodel’. The beginnings of modern plastic surgery are related to the period from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

Aesthetic surgery, as an integral part of plastic surgery, is focused on the correction of aesthetic defects and beautification of the human body, and it arose from the human constant striving for beauty. The first operation in the field of plastic surgery was performed a century ago and has been constantly evolving since then, following modern requirements in the field of aesthetics.

The most common procedures in cosmetic surgery are: correction of the excess eyelid skin or the whole face and breast augmentation. It can be done regardless of whether the corrections are congenital anomalies, withered and small breasts, after losing weight, giving  childbirth or breastfeeding. Also, it is very common to tighten the skin of the abdomen (dermolipectomy – abdominoplasty), when the excess skin of the abdomen is removed, especially with women  who gave birth, who in addition to excess skin, also stretched the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall, which we reconstruct and place in anatomical position.
